On Monday March 12th, 2018, 80 guests from Israel, Germany and worldwide, had participated in a day long conference, discussing the Bau, Now & How; past, present and future of the Bauhaus school’s architectural and design movement, or in a more accurate way – The International Style.
The conference was the official opening for a two years long collaboration, led by the Masters program of Bezalel Academy for Arts and Design in Jerusalem, along with Anhalt University located in Dessau, Germany. The program and research is kindly supported byThe German-Israeli Future Forum Foundation.
1st bilateral convention in Israel for an opening conference exploring Bauhaus influence on design, technology & architecture in the history of the two states, focusing on local expressions of international ideas, and the new challenges of today. Followed by a joint workshop hosted by Bezalel Academy in Tel Aviv for project launch, bilateral groups assembling and brainstorming towards a cross countries research, project and exhibition.
BauNow (2018-2019) is a cooperation between Bezalel Academy of Arts and Design (Dana Benshalom and Galit Shvo), Anhalt University of Applied Sciences, Dessau (Severin Wucher, Bianca Herlo) and the Design Research Lab, Berlin University of the Arts, Weizenbaum Institute for the Networked Society (Bianca Herlo).
