‘Lonely Metropolitan’ is one in a series of photomontages made in 1931 by the Bauhaus Master Herbert Bayer. The series illustrates his dreams and in this work it consists of an emblematic image in which the artist’s eyes stare back at the viewer from the palms of his hands. The hands are cut off at the wrists and float mysteriously above a background of a Berlin apartment block courtyard.
Using contemporary technologies, Talia translates the two-dimensional photographic collage into a physically interactive experience and gives it a new life. Using projected live video, the installation allows the visitors to project their eyes onto their hands and create a new interaction between their body parts, themselves and their physical surroundings.
The project is an Interactive installation.
